BP Boys

A dance project created to inspire more boys and young men to access dance in a positive and welcoming environment.

Focusing on performance skills, fitness, contemporary dance technique, creativity and improvisation, while helping boys build confidence, teamwork and self expression through movement.

BP Boys is about creating a space where boys feel encouraged, supported and inspired – a place to move, perform, make friends and be completely themselves.

The Story So Far

Sarah, Principal and Director of Boogie Pumps Fleet, began her journey with boys dance in 2017 when she worked with The Dance Movement. Through these projects, boys were given access to weekly technique classes, professional dance opportunities and a supportive space to develop their skills and confidence.

When The Dance Movement later disbanded, Sarah was given the opportunity to continue the legacy of their boys dance programme, bringing the project under the Boogie Pumps name and creating BP Boys in 2021.

After a pause, Sarah is now relaunching BP Boys in 2026, working alongside Reuben Spencer, Co-Director of Boogie Pumps Newbury & Bracknell.

Meet The Team

Sarah has been teaching dance and performing arts for over a decade. She grew up training in modern, tap, ballet, drama and performing arts before going on to complete a First Class BA Hons Dance Performance degree at Middlesex University, where she trained extensively in contemporary technique.

Alongside her teaching work, Sarah has performed at a range of venues, platforms and events including the RAF Museum, Big Dance Trafalgar Square, Resolution Festival at The Place, Reading Fringe Festival and Vote 100, which was featured on BBC News. She was a part of Reside Dance Company for four years and is now involved with Indigo Movement Company and Woking Dance Space.

Reuben Spencer is Co-Director of Boogie Pumps Newbury & Bracknell and brings a wealth of experience to the project. He grew up dancing in boys dance groups across Berkshire and Hampshire, including Explosive and Nuclear Boys Company at Trinity School in Newbury, WISE Boys Dance Company through Corn Exchange Newbury, and ZoieLogic Dance Theatre’s FuzzyLogic Male Youth Dance Company, where he trained for ten years.

Boy’s Dance at Christ’s College is such an enriching experience for all pupils involved. The confidence and enjoyment that the boys get out of the sessions is monumental and will benefit their future endeavours immensely. Every boy that attends this session gains skills and opportunities that will stay with them for the rest of their lives; whether through continued development of their dance ability, gaining confidence in themselves, learning teamwork and communication skills or through once in a lifetime experiences and performances. The boys at our school are very fortunate to work with Sarah and love her sessions.

Miss Carter, Christ’s

Sarah is a great inspiration to the boys at Weydon there is always such a buzz around attending her sessions. Sarah spends a great deal of time getting to know they boys and ensuring that they feel confident to share their creative ideas whatever their background in Dance. The standard of work that the boys produce with Sarah is excellent, highly original which explores themes of Physical Theatre and Contemporary.

Miss Gill, Weydon

My little boy has been saying he wanted to go to boogie pumps for a long time. He had a trial session and absolutely loved it so is now attending every week. The staff are very friendly and extremely organised and obviously love what they do.

Sharon Tucker

Just wanted to say… my son LOVES Boogie Pumps. He always comes home and shows us the moves he’s done and talks about it non stop! We will be bringing an army of family and friends to watch him at G Live. Well done for having such an awesome company that brings such happiness to all the children that attend, you and your team are super stars.
